Pete Postlethwaite, a lanky, craggy-faced character actor whose range stretched from sweet sentimentality to acid menace and who was nominated for an Academy Award in 1994 for his role as the father of a man unjustly accused of terrorism in “In the Name of the Father, died (7 February 1946 – 2 January 2011) on a Sunday in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England. He was 64 and lived on a farm near Bishop’s Castle, Shropshire.
